Measurement Spot Calculator
The measurement spot calculator can be used to determine the area that can be observed with a given sensor.
First select the resolution and subsequently select the lens with the field of view (FOV) that you are interested in. By entering
the measurement distance you will instantaneously get the resulting measurement area in the given distance from the sensor.
Besides width, height and diagonal of the area the results will also give you the instantaneous field of view (IFOV) of a single pixel. Please note, that the IFOV is only an approximation and can vary for each pixel due to grid distortion of the lens system.
This is especially true for very wide field of view sensors, where the edge and corner pixels have a larger distortion and therefore
field of view than the inner pixels.
Also note, that the minimum distance to get a sharp image varies with the selected lens and focal length of the system.
As a rule of thumb, 20 times the focal length can be assumed as the distance for a sharp image.
For certain optics, a customized focal point can be set that allows a significantly shorter distance.
